2021 ESIL Annual Conference

2021 ESIL Annual Conference

• The 16th ESIL Annual Conference will take place as planned in Stockholm on 9-11 September, with pre-conference workshops on 8 September. We plan for a hybrid conference. The main rule will be that panelists are present onsite at the conference venue, while other participants can follow onsite or online.

• While the covid-19 situation is dire in some countries, vaccinations are well under way in many parts of the world, including Europe and North America. However, it is not clear whether the pandemic will have abated enough to allow the usual mode of participation in Stockholm, and government regulations may also apply. The Aula Magna is a large venue and will be able to hold 300 participants even with social distancing requirements, but naturally, social interaction will be different if precautions are necessary. We will post relevant information on the homepage of the conference website, but each participant has to make an informed decision about whether and how to participate.

• At registration, participants will get the option of onsite or online. It will be possible to “downgrade” (until 15 August) or “upgrade” (until the opening). If restrictions will apply, priority will be given to those participants who have registered for live participation, in the order of registration. Registration is now open.

• There are considerable costs involved in the organization of a conference, and, in distinction to a regular webinar, in a hybrid conference there are also expenditures for recording, video production and the management of online participation. The fee for onsite participation will be unchanged, while there will be a fee of around 1/3 of the ordinary price for online participation. All participants (onsite or online) will have exclusive access to the videos for a period of at least 30 days after the conference.

We hope to see you in Stockholm!
